YOUR MONEY IS SAFE WITH ACPE: All of the country is a little jittery with the news about bank failure and Wall Street. We at ACPE want our members to know two important things: first, ACPE is in extremely sound financial condition because of our conservative approach in many areas of banking, and second, as a Federal Credit Union, our accounts are insured by the National Credit Union Association (NCUA), a federal regulatory agency and insurer, for up to $100,000. The exception is that IRAs are insured for up to $250,000. If you, our members, have any other questions about how the funds at ACPE are managed, please feel free to come by and we will do our best to answer them for you.
STOP TELEMARKETERS FROM CALLING YOUR CELL PHONE: Since last October, telemarketers have been given cell phone numbers to make sales calls. These calls are chargeable to your phone and can burn up your minutes. To prevent this, call 888-382-1222 from your cell phone. It is the National Do Not Call list and the call must be made from your cell phone. The call takes about a minute and will block your number for five (5) years.
ATTENTION THOSE HAVING SCHOOL DISTRICT PAYROLL DEPOSITS: Any member who has loan payments attached to their payroll and automatically deducted from their account will have one payment, June's, deducted in June. Payments may be made online or by coming by or calling the credit union to have transfers made for July and August.
NEW AND MORE CREDIT CARD CHOICES AVAILABLE NOW: In addition to ACPE's already great Premium Visa credit card at 12.50%, we are now offering three other credit card choices: The Gold card with an interest rate of 9.00%, the Secured card at 12.50% and secured by deposits, and the Classic card with a rate of 16.99%. Contact us about the details and how you can apply.
CHECK PROCESSING NOW HIGH SPEED: Now deposited checks are processed and cleared sooner. ACPE has improved its check processing service by cutting out the middle man. This allows for shorter hold times on some check deposits and more current account information. Electronic processing will help all our members.
SIGN UP FOR E-STATEMENTS: Two years ago e-statements became available as a replacement for paper statements. E-statements are available just after the first of each month, and less expensive to the credit union to process than paper statements, which may not arrive in the mail until the 10th or later, and safer from thieves who want to steal your identity. If you do not already get e-statements, just call or come by and our staff can get you enrolled. Save a tree.
INFORMATION ABOUT ELECTRONIC CHECKS AND SHARE ACCOUNTS: With electronic transactions such as electronic checks becoming so common, ACPE would like its members to know that electronic checks cannot be drawn on Share (savings) accounts. This may be difficult for those without checking accounts when trying to pay expenses online or over the phone. Such attempted transfers are in violation of Federal Reg D requirements. Further, balances in Share accounts are prohibited from becoming overdrawn by federal law.
EMAIL FRAUD ALERT!! - An email supposedly from National Credit Union Association (notice@ncua.gov) that their account is suspended or their check card has been compromised and blocked is circulating. THIS IS A FRAUD and the proper response is to ignore the email. If we have reason to suspect your credit or debit card has been compromised, we will contact you directly. NCUA never contacts credit union members at all. If you have responded and given out personal information, call us immediately!!
Protect your personal information! We at ACPE work diligently to keep your information secure. However, crooks continue to try to obtain your personal identification by many different means and from many different sources. Never, never, never give any personal information over the phone and shred your mail. Do not respond to any email saying it is from ACPE. We NEVER ask for information by email. These three steps can go a long way in preventing identiy theft. If you suspect you have been a victim of ID theft, contact us immediately so appropriate measures can be taken.
NOTICE: As of October 1, 2006, a Dormant Account is defined as any Share (savings) account without member activity for three (3) years and any Draft (checking) account without member activity for one (1) year. Also, if member statements should be returned for three (3) consecutive months, the account will be considered a "lost contact member" and a Dormant Account. Beginning October 1, 2006, a service charge of $1.25 will be deducted monthly from each Dormant Account. If you have any questions, please call 745-4726 or 877-945-4726.
